The Electron Microscope Facility at San Diego State University is committed to increasing the use of microscopes in education. In addition to providing access to our scanning electron microscope, we want to streamline the development of laboratory exercises that can be used in the science curriculum.

Instrument Training
Please contact Ingrid Niesman. Training requires 2 consecutive days (2 hours per day), followed by a 2-hour supervised solo experience. A formal written report demonstrating scope proficiency is required for full approvals.
$250 per person: includes 3 additional beam hours to get you started.

Approved users may reserve instrument time on the Google calendaring system by making a request.

The system password is updated regularly. Approved users receive updates on passwords and login information.

 

Special Note
Due to the evolving COVID-19 situation, all users MUST also book time within the facility on the calendar. Only 3 people, in addition to the Director in the office, are allowed in the space at 1 time. Limit is 1 person per microscope suite and 1 person in the microtome room.
